    Emily + Nick :: Forever

    So, we kind of felt bad for Emily + Nick on their wedding day.  First of all, the church was under construction.  The University of Iowa purchased the church building, and was renovating it.  Massive sheets of black plastic were the backdrop for the ceremony, and new drywall hung on the walls and ceiling. Their wedding was the last one ever in that church, and we had to be very careful with our flashes and angles so as to not get an obnoxious reflection on the plastic.  But, a friend of Emily's family let us into the Levitt Center at the University of Iowa for pictures, and wow. What a gorgeous building!  We could have photographed in there for hours.

    Secondly, Emily's hairdresser had a family emergency to attend to and had to have her assistant do Emily's hair.  Even Emily agreed, that's not the worst that could happen, but it is a bit unnerving.

    Thirdly, the Iowa City Sheraton, the reception location, was also under construction. But Emily + Nick took it all in stride, and said "it's okay, we're getting married!!"  Great attitudes lead to great images!

    We also drove by this sweet little flower garden, so we stopped and asked if we could shoot there with the bride and groom.  They were very kind to let us be there, so.. Thanks a lot, if you're reading this!!
