The Mercure's :: Family

The leaves were just starting to change and it definitely looked like Fall had arrived.  As the Mercure family hopped out of their mini-van, we knew the session would be a fun one! Mike + Audra have the cutest little twin girlies you'll ever see. They started off a little bashful, but with some help from Mom and Dad's tickles and Jodi's crazy high fives, they were good to go!

The McKay Family

What do 3 boys bored with having their pictures taken do with dry leaves and a bug zapper?  Try to make sparks and set the leaves on fire, of course! That's what I would have done.

Mike and Sherry have an amazing tree house in their backyard! To drive past their house, you would never guess it to be back there, but it is, and what great fun I'm sure it is for those grandchildren.

The Sommers Family

This is another session we did while we were on vacation in PA last week. We've been good friends with Linden and Kristi since we attended the same college (that seems like only yesterday, but was 11 years ago already... yikes). Anyway, Kristi started her own photography business and like our new friends in the last post, they wanted to update their own family pictures. We love their 3 little guys and how they have a blast playing with Jackson whenever we get together.

I know I'm probably losing followers if I don't update every day, but it's going to be a slow week on the blog again. I'm in a band, and this week we're traveling to Columbus Ohio to play for a youth convention. So, that means this is probably the last post for this week, unless I can manage an internet connection somewhere and post some pics at the convention. The Sun and the Sand :: Newswanger Family

As I have stated in a previous post, we are fans of trading services. Jodi and Char starting emailing a few months ago, to see if Char would be able to come to Ocean City, Maryland, where we were on vacation the past 2 weeks, and create some portraits for my family. In turn, we would photograph her family as well.

And that's what happened. True story.

Merv + Juanita :: Family

Merv and Juanita are from Pennsylvania, where they live and work at a youth center. This Spring saw them taking a few months off of their busy schedule to get away for a while, to spiritually regroup, and allow God to refresh them and encourage them in their work. We met them when Merv's computer crashed and Jodi's aunt pointed them to us, so we might let them use one of our laptops.

Jodi and I have always had a special place in our hearts for people who have given their lives to mission work... abandoning the financial safety of a 8-5 job and raising their own support, taking on the hurting, the poor, the under-priveleged of the world and trying to make a difference in someone's life. So, we called up Juanita and told them we wanted to take their family pictures, because we so believe in and appreciate what they are doing.

Merv and Juanita are heading back to PA before too long, and we pray that God continues to use them to restore broken lives as they reach out to local youth. God bless you guys!

The Ropps :: Family

These days, we aren't photographing many families, but once in a while it's good to mix things up a bit! So, the Ropp family came to the studio for some extended family formals. Jodi did jump outside for some individual family shots, so here's a few shots of one of the families.

The Bontrager's :: Family

Larry and Virginia have been friends of ours for a long time.... in fact, Jodi grew up going to church and school with Virginia.  I spent some time talking to their oldest son (pictured below) the other night, and he is VERY proud of his baby brother! He also got pretty excited when I showed him our new little baby. :) It's awesome to see their family expanding, and being able to capture these special moments in their lives.  

*Because, folks... your family will never look the same way it does today, so go get those family pictures taken today!*

The Ouverson's :: Family

Dan and Sheila used to be our next door neighbor's when we lived in town the first couple years Jodi and I were married.  One thing we've always been jealous of is Dan and Sheila's awesome front porch, where we took most of these images.  We've tried to think of an easy way to detach it from their house, move it, and attach it onto our house while they are away on vacation, but nothing we came up with seemed realistic. :)  

Dan is the co-owner (w/ San Diego Charger's kicker Nate Kaeding) of a happenin' little restaurant called "Short's Burger and Shine", located across from the Old Capitol building in Iowa City. You need to check it out if you're ever going to IC for eats or a few drinks.
