Our youth group at church was doing a mall hunt Sunday afternoon, and we were asked to participate as the hunted. Now, we aren't much for disguises, but we chose a military man and his girlfriend as our get-up. Thanks to Albert, a senior from last year, for lending me his National Guard uniform. We had fun ducking in and out of stores trying to avoid eye contact and mall security. :)

Introducing :: Harrison!
Baby Harrison arrived into the world on January 19, and had a wonderful, loving family to welcome him! We are somewhat partial to the name Harrison, because it sounds stately, like he'll be a president or something. We actually would have named our second child Harrison, but it was a girl, so that didn't happen. I couldn't find who said this, but it's a great quote:
"The miracle is that one little life can change so many."
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Wedding News!
We just wanted to drop by to let you know some exciting news for us. We are booked full for weddings in 2008! We've had to put a lid on how many weddings we accept each year, and we've reached it already! In the past year, we've noticed that our customer service has had to take a back seat because we were so busy with other things, and that is not how we want to operate. So... many, many apologies to anyone who has experienced inconvenient service with us. It's all part of growing pains, and we're still learning as we go! *the first step is to admit there's a problem....:)* We've set pretty high standards for this year, and here's to hoping we can meet those!
If we've already sent you wedding information for a 2008 wedding, and you haven't booked yet... you're still okay to do so. But we won't be accepting any new weddings for 2008, effective today!
Thank you all for making our lives so much fun! We're looking forward to each and every wedding in the coming year and are excited to see new places, and hang out with amazing people!
much love, and God bless...

FOOTBALL TALK
Okay, so since some of you are curious, I'm sure, I will tell you what I think about this years Super Bowl. I'm not thrilled. I didn't like the Patriots this year because of the way they steamrolled teams even when they were winning by 50. And, being a Cowboys fan, there are only two times it's legal to cheer for the Giants: 1.) When they are playing to knock the Eagles out of the playoffs, and 2.) If there are no other teams in the league, and even then I'd rather watch monkeys play badminton. Actually, that would be pretty funny. So, my Super Bowl options are pretty limited. I'm pulling for the Pats I guess, but only because I have no other choice. I may end up going for the refs.

Miller Kids
You will not find 3 sweeter young ladies than these. Of course, I may be somewhat partial, since they are Jodi's nieces. But, bias aside, they are still beautiful girls and they are an absolute joy to be around.
She looks innocent now...
She tried not to laugh, but....
Yesterday we had lunch with some other local photographers, and good friends, Samantha Bender, Linda Drish, and Jerry Teets in Kalona. Let me just say, if you're ever in town and you need a suggestion for somewhere to eat, check out the Tuscan Moon - Grill on 5th. They have great food, and, oh my-lanta... you have to have the "New Jersey" cheesecake for dessert. Amazing.
P.S. Does anyone agree with me that Paula Abdul gets worse as a judge every year on American Idol? Why is she there? I mean, she seems like a nice person, but she doesn't make sense when she talks. Randy, or Simon: "Paula, yes or no" Paula: "Well, you know, I...you're...ah.... I like you. We like you, but... well, I... you're just not right for this competition." What is that?!
oh well.

Tara+Josh :: Love
Well, my Cowboys found the end of the road on Sunday. I would rather have lost to Brett Favre next week instead of the lousy Giants. Ah well. So it goes. It just would have been fun to have one more crack at New England just to see IF.... But if we all lived our lives from one "if" to the next, I don't suppose we'd get very far.
TARA + JOSH :: ENGAGEMENT SESSION
We are pretty stoked about their wedding coming up this summer at Lake Okiboji. From what we hear it's a very beautiful place! We have some awesome weddings coming up this year, and this is going to be one of them!
Winter pictures can sometimes be difficult to do any experimental post-processing just because you lose the texture in the snow, but these turned out pretty cool, I thought.
I am thoroughly enjoying my job, right now. Suffice it to say that I look forward to coming to the office every morning, and I have no greater joy than to be working side by side with my wife. We are so blessed, it's insane. So are you! :)

Summer's Coming!
I know we're all bundled up and freezing whenever we venture outside nowadays, so we mainly hole up indoors drinking hot chocolate and coffee. Well, we've started to get visions of warm weather around GP! We were contacted by the Cedar Rapids / Iowa City Wedding Guide for an advertisement, and we obliged. Our theme is "Summer Weddings". Now, I'm anxious for short sleeves and mowing the grass and golf....and of course, weddings!
Look for the following ad in a month or two when the Guide hits the streets!

Shema+Christopher
According to the best-man's speech, (and he was telling the truth) these two met during an online game of Spades. They are very much in love, and were quite a pleasure to work with. If you were in Iowa on Saturday, you know that they were very blessed to have a respite from the 15˚, snowy weather we've been having, and blessed to have a day in the 40˚ range.
Back when I first joined Jodi at weddings, this shot was my sole responsibility.... The groom's expression captured between the bride and her father as they walk down the aisle. She would abuse me if I missed it. :)
The reception was held in one of our favorite venues: Brown Deer Golf Club.
Rodney's Late Breaking Football News / Predictions:
◊ Next up for the Cowboys... the only team I dreaded them playing in the second round: New York Giants. I am not a confident fan, because of the way the 'Boys played their last 2 games. Hopefully they can get something together in the 2 weeks they've had to prepare. Dal 32-NYG-27 if T.O. plays, NYG 24-Dal 17 if he doesn't.
◊ Next up for the unbeaten Patriots: Jacksonville. Jacksonville will win and ruin the Patriots perfect season. Jags 28 - Pats 24
The other teams to win are Green Bay and Indianapolis.

Details: Part 5
It's us! We often find a way to take a picture of each other somewhere throughout the wedding day, and here's just a few of them. I couldn't find as many as I thought we had. Ah well. Actually, the real reason for posting is that I'm figuring out a few things about the blog, and just discovered (after hours of Googling) how to 1. make larger images, and 2. take away that annoying little nav-bar at the top. See...it's gone! You didn't even miss it.
Our 3 yr old says the funniest things sometimes, so here's Jackson's great quote of the week:
Rodney: Jackson, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Jackson: A LION!!
Have a great weekend.... see you Monday!

Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2008! I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great holiday season. We had a great past 2 weeks, and it actually feels good to get back in the flow of things again. I'm working on a few wedding albums, and I might post one on here tomorrow or Friday for kicks and giggles. Also, we have our first wedding of '08 coming up this weekend, so be heads up for some teasers next week.
For you Iowa residents... see you at the caucuses!
Happy New Year!!
