Kathleen + Anthony :: Forever
This past Saturday saw Jodi and I heading back to Des Moines for another wedding, this time at Sacred Heart Parish in West Des Moines. This wedding was a little bit different for us, as usually, couples that we photograph opt to see each other before the wedding for pictures. This time, they chose to see each other for the first time as Kathleen walked down the aisle. It was fun to have things changed up a little bit, and they allowed a good amount of time for photos afterwards.
Kathleen + Anthony added a neat personal touch when Anthony and his groomsmen all changed into white Nike's after the ceremony, and boarded the party on wheels called the Top Hat Party Bus that escorted them between the ceremony and reception!
We headed into downtown Des Moines for some bridal party scenes after the wedding, and found a cool vacant lot....
Then it was off to Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines for the reception, featuring an outdoor dance floor!
Congratulations, Kathleen + Anthony! We were so honored to be part of your wedding day, and wish you all God's best for you in your marriage!

Haley + Shawn :: Love
Ok, new rule.
Every bride from here on out that books with Gehman Photography must have a Southern accent. I think it makes the pictures look better.
Haley + Shawn (Jodi's cousin) flew to Iowa from Florida last week for their engagement photos, and the Hawkeyes football game against Arizona... which they won 27-17. Go Hawks! We had fun cruising the country side with Haley + Shawn, and getting to know them a little better. Shawn was unsure about the whole photography deal, but after a few peeks at the back of the camera, it eased the "pain" a bit. :)
We can't wait until their wedding in Florida next May! Especially on a rainy day like this.
Haley + Shawn... you guys were awesome and we're looking forward to the white sand beaches the next time we photograph you two!

Michelle + Sam :: Forever
A few days ago, we were blessed and honored to be part of Michelle + Sam's wedding in Des Moines, and it was fun to photograph in some all-new locations.
We loved the architecture and ambiance of the Basilica of St John, and from Michelle's veil, to kids waving streamers during the couple's exit, to the '69 Buick getaway car, to "The R Factor", the live band from Minnesota, that rocked the reception at Sticks... this wedding was stylin'!
Michelle + Sam, you guys were awesome! You were very detailed and prepared... but were relaxed and easy to work with. We wish you all the best in your new lives, and hope that we get the pleasure of photographing you again someday! :)

Sara + Josh :: Love
Sara + Josh totally adore each other, and it's obvious that they have a deep love that is rooted in their Faith. They also have one of those great connections with each other that is really fun to photograph, where they enjoy being close to each other and making each other laugh.
We're looking forward to their wedding this Thanksgiving! Congratulations guys! See you soon. :)

*Okay, the author of this blog may have thrown that last question in without permission, and subsequently answered it for Kerri. :) She has been a HUGE help to our family, by watching our kids for us on wedding days for the past 2 or 3 years. It's been a blessing to have someone so reliable, and someone who truly enjoys our kids! So, all of you brides and grooms out there have Kerri to thank for allowing us to photograph your wedding without worrying about our kids all day! Thanks Kerri & family, we love and appreciate you guys so much!*
